Pricey clutch fluid reservoir

Hey all you quattro heads.

I saw an old episode of Wheeler Dealers where they had to purchase a new clutch fluid reservoir for a 1985 quattro. The damn thing cost £65! :yikes:

Is that right?

About right now iirc
I was in the dealers yesterday trying to get a cambelt and water pump .... Nla

I watched that as well, he gave that car away!!! Has anyone seen the car since?

There was mention of it on here at the time, I think the cars are actually sold by the production company after the filming? i.e. Not to the 'buyers' on the show. Pick the off the street I think. I remember a link to the sale, can't remember if it was an auction or on a Car and Classic type site.

yup them reservoirs are pricy.... fitted one years ago.. was a stout price then too...

the new owner of the quattro is a member as far as i remember..

I watched that last night as well. These days a lot of people are using other reservoirs that do the same job for a fraction of the money. My mate has a brembo bike pot that cost 8 quid. Exactly the same size. On ebay theres a shagged looking one that the seller has been relisting for weeks and weeks - thats 45 quid!!

I remember seeing the link on here for the sale of this quattro. It never got sold to the bloke who buys it on the show - im sure somebody in the know says there was more wrong with it than was let on.

i find it miraculous to believe that they did that old squib up for a couple of grand. let's face it, most of us who own ur quattros know that it's one thing after the next and it's never ending (hence the nickname "moneypit"). did they mention replacing the shot gearstick knob or the smashed indicator lens??

i was busy shouting at the telly, "AYE YER F**KIN' ARSE!"

:grr:

they was probably still in shock for getting ripped off for that interior that they bought, perfect for the ur quattro.....

I think that episode of Wheeler Dealer was filmed about 2009 so i'm quite suprised at what they paid for that Ur then, seems very cheap to me. Maybe i was ripped off with mine! :hmmm:

If you had to pay labour costs to restore then the moneypit may have to be bottomless.

Them shows are just for entertainment and don't match reality one bit. :nono:

Taken with a pinch of salt....

:(

I thought the interior was what you'd expect to pay from a concern like quattro corner.... am I wrong?

I was told by someone in the know that the interior was provided by the Wheeler Dealers Team and was "given" to Pete Reeve who then "Sold" it to Mike Brewer...all for the camera

Fitted a Brembo to mine for £8.00 bought online and it does a perfect job.

mind you, would any of you honestly trust a guy like mike brewer with all his cheeky chappy chat??

:hmmm:

Ringmaster 10-09-14 07:40 PM

I always suspected deals were done prior to any being filmed, but to supply a part in order to 'buy' it back, well.................that just takes the biscuit!!!!! :nonod:

geneandbolly 10-09-14 07:44 PM

what they should really do is add just how many hours edd "me old" china spends with his magic wand on these squibs and then pass that on to the potential buyer!!

oh but wait. in that case no one would buy anything off of him!! ££££s!!
