ADI 2013 - Classic Audi Display! Saturday 12th October 2013

It's only 6 weeks away till we make our annual pilgrimage to Castle Combe for Audi Driver International. Over the past 6 years, Classic Audi has always had one of the best and varied displays for people to look at and this year should be no exception!

If you want to have you car on the line up, then please add you name below!

Coxy - Audi 80 quattro! (Fingers crossed!)

below is also a press release for anyone wanting to know a bit more and maybe even get on the track!)

AUDI DRIVER INTERNATIONAL 12 OCTOBER 2013 - CASTLE COMBE

Please find attached the registration form.

We allocate stand location, once we know the numbers from the individual clubs. If possible we will upload map onto the club page a few days before the event.

Passes will be sent the third week of September.

Dedicated club track sessions

At Audi Driver International 2013 we are offering clubs the opportunity to take part in a dedicated track session where only their members are driving on the circuit.

This has several advantages, not least the reassurance – particularly important for first-time trackday drivers – that club members are sharing track time with people that they know and feel comfortable with.

There’s another big advantage: If we receive a block booking from a club for 12 track entries, the individual price per session is reduced from £45 to £35 per person if the block booking is made in advance.

Also, if a club makes an advance booking for a session in this way, all 12 drivers will be sent wristbands which will permit them to enter the event free of charge. (Please note that this only applies to the driver, not to any passengers). Additional track sessions can then be bought on the day at the usual price.

The proviso is that we must have the full amount of £420 in advance. It is then the responsibility of the allocated club representative to collect the individual amounts.

So that the advance entry passes can be sent out in good time, we will need to have received the advance booking fee and the full names and addresses of all individual entrants by Monday 16th September.

Please contact Sally Appleby or Evette McKee on 01525 750 500 if you need any additional information.
General information and guidance notes about the event can be found at www.audidriverinternational.co.uk

It depends how fast you drive!
Usually the sessions are timed. 10 to 15 minutes each so if you are lapping say 1.20 then its enough for you to be ready for the chequered flag and your car with be glad of the rest:tup:

Put me down for one of the 12 for a CA session Mr C please.

Had the email yesterday about the standard sessions and its £189 for 6 and its pot luck who you get to battle with.

It's 1.85 miles and its a car killer if you aren't prepared and if you and your car are, it's one of the best tracks to drive in the UK

Thanks for the info Steve

The trouble is with Castle Combe it just never looks that exciting or much of a challenge when you view footage of it, I'm sure it's one of those that needs to be driven to be fully appreciated. :hmmm: Very tempted to come and have a go.

There a few people who have had that misconception about Castle Combe and have gone home on the back of breaker..!,:hand:

Lol!!
Exactly that Andy. It's fast and very technical when driven properly. People say the worst corner to get round is Quarry at the top of the circuit where everyone goes off. Thats not strictly true, its a simple right turn with a massive run out to the left. The problem corner is the one before Quarry, Avon. Your car goes light over the crest and if you aren't in the correct position as you exit over the crest on the approach to Quarry, its all over long before to try an turn in.

It'd be great to get 12 classics going round in a mildly swift convoy!!

I've pedalled the race car around Oulton and Donington a few times and there doesn't seem to be too many nasty surprises to catch you out. From what you guys are saying, Castle Combe does sound a bit tricky, but I guess it's like any circuit, it takes two or three laps to get it sussed?

Without doubt you'll be fine then. Nothing tricky about CC, its about being precise in the corners because its such a fast circuit, with a lovely 100mph plus double apex on the section in front of the pits and no margin for error at the back of the circuit if you are on it and not perfect in the bendy bit! For any newbies on track I would recommend 3 laps with David DeCosta who is the chief instructor ( thats if you can grab him fast enough!) to get the lines firmly implanted, then you're away!!

I'm up for some track time too, if we can get 12 CA bods together. It's got to be worth £35 - and, from the way I've read it, that includes your entry fee (£10), so reduces the track time to a mere £25 :D

If I go in something it's either the ur or something new

jamiecoysh 01-09-13 09:58 AM

id like to come along if that's ok. What time would I need to be at the show? and how much to I need to pay and when, id like to go round the track aswell as I watched it last year. Is a race as I wouldn't fancy my chances as its a 1989 B3 2.0e. Does it cost extra for passengers to ride round the track? if anyone could help cheers

any displaying in the club area should try and arrive by 09:30 at the latest to minimise movement on site when there is a lot of people around.

IIRC, it's £10 payable on the gate.

Dave 02-09-13 06:09 PM

It's always a damn good day, need an MOT before then so hopefully I'll be there :-D

No races, not timed, you drive at whatever pace suits you and your car and anyone faster simply overtakes. I'm sure Coxy will furnish full details if we get enough for a CA session. Drivers and any passengers sign on when you arrive, there is a cost for passengers I recall but its minimal.
