Here's my contribution. I've tried not to repeat too many that have already been seen.

Love the wooden steering wheel to match the gear knob.

Another great event that'll be in my calendar for next year... The weather even played ball in the end too.

I had a great day, met some good people and saw some great cars.... It may end up costing me a few quid though..... Been to look at a WR this afternoon..... :shake::nod::shake::nod:

Here a two shots from the track...

Its lovely to see this old girl still active as an enthusiasts car, do we know who now owns it? I only ask, because I drove the car quite extensively in Germany in 1991... And its just superb to see it still busy....

The only thing that appears to be different is the mudflaps.... Not bad in 22 years....

Kenquattro 13-10-13 11:41 PM

A cracking day yesterday at ADI. I travelled down with Dave Orrell (quattoboy) in the 90 quattro. The 90 did a round trip of 500 miles yesterday, and the only problems to note were the dipped headlights being faulty on the way there :shake: , and a slight blow from the exhaust by the time I got home :shake:. I have sorted out a replacement set of stalks via my new best friend Andy in Leicester who is breaking the two E Plate 90s. So the headlight problem looks to be sorted. The exhaust will be looked at in the week.
Highlights of the day for me were seeing Terrywindy's beautiful Maraschino Red V8. Stiffys all round . Great to finally meet Alan (Veesix), always good to see Dave (Lefthooker), had a chat with PeterB, and last, but not least, bumped into Dave Preece. He had me and Dave Orrell in stitches with his usual wit and stories. The qOC has never been the same since he went. He is sorely missed.
Other items of note were the Panther Ur quattro 20V on a J plate with no sunroof  , and seeing E22 KBD, one of the first, if not the first, UK MB Ur quattro, and sister car to MikeS2's car, and still wearing it's VAG UK plates .

Good to meet you too Ken - 'twas a bloody good day

E22 KBD is Mike Dewar's (MikeS2) quattro and it is the first MB; Mike was at ADI and we had a good chat - his 90 20v Sport quattro has an ABS fault, so the MB was pushed into action - it's at least an 800-mile round trip from Mike's place

Darron Edwards 14-10-13 09:32 AM

I was surprised to see Dave Preece there. Even more surprised that he shook my hand. We did used to have a good laugh though, back in the nineties.

I didn't realise E22 KBD was Mike's car. I thought his was E34 KBD. I think dementia is setting in, Am I sad that i got a bit of a semi on over Mike's original VAG UK plates? :o

mikes2 14-10-13 11:26 AM

Was there in E22 on Saturday. It's about 420 miles each way.

Came over to speak to you in the afternoon Ken, but your car was away by that time.

Yeh, the qOC was great back then. Some great characters and great cars that have since slipped off radar. It really was great to have a chat with Dave. He is still as funny as ever.
There were a few Ur quattros at ADI that I have never seen before, which is always nice. The Lago MB on the Classic Audi stand was nice. Ex Press car and late registered, it gave me a semi on. I have an unhealthy affection towards the Press cars.

Sorry about that, Mike. Always a pleasure to chat to you. Respect for travelling all that way. I thought I had a long drive!

Well, qOC bit, but that was sort of with the Classic Audi bit. It looked nice and standard. Similar plate to the Nautic Blue 20V Clarkson drives on the Top Gear clip back in 1990.

The early rain didn't help, reducing track time for everyone.

Managed a quick visit to the stand in the morning and a chat to a couple of people. The car line up looked good.

The "damp" conditions slowed us down a bit, with some of the modern stuff benefiting from more suitable tyres and driving aids.
But as it dried out, we picked up the pace and hustled the RSs and R8s out of our way .

One final treat on the last session of the day, the V10 R8 giving passenger rides, piloted by the racing driver, appeared from the pit lane as I came down the straight.
I was interested to see his lines as we followed, but was also chuffed to be able to stick with him (just).
He probably wasn't going full chat, but he wasn't hanging around either :D.

It sounds superb Tim , sound of the day for me, as always, howling past the start finish line
if your ever short of any weight distribution next year let me know, I don't mind balancing it out for you ;)

No problem Chris, you're welcome to come and keep the passenger seat warm!

We took a couple the qOC guys (and girl) out, they all came back in grinning from ear to ear :D.
I suppose we get sort of accustomed to how quick it is and how well it goes around corners (although you always want more :ihih:).
So it was nice to hear that they were all astonished at the amount of grip and absence of the usual quattro understeer we have .

BigT80 14-10-13 06:03 PM

Thanks for the pic of my 80q Rob. Yes, it was a good day once the rain stopped. Good too to meet some of you on the stand. Sorry couldn't stay for longer, but wanted to make sure I got home after the alternator belt sheared on arrival. Made it back OK, with still plenty of go in the battery. Some great photos of the event have been posted - won't bother with my few as they'd only be duplicates. Hope to see you again at another one. Cheers for now. G.

Wiper Rack/Motor arrived yesterday, exactly one week too late.

Are we allowed to swear on here?

Oceanic Blue, Chris. I think Darron is after one in that colour.

Thx Ken, Oceanic Blue is one of my favourites - this shade looked different but obviously isn't

Thanks chaps .

The exhaust note would've been a bit subdued that day, the silencer has to be carefully packed to pass the strict 100dB sound limit.

It is normally a tad noisier with an empty back box, and for special occasions we have a pipe that slips up the inside to make it straight through .
