Stop playing the girly card and man up woman as it not cool trying to do this.
IMHO if you cannot do basic maintance and repairs on a car.......a license shouldn't be issued :wall:

If you don't trust your garage to do a basic repair find one you do or even better learn how to do it yourself!
Oh ........cars are all ways female by the way!

WTF are you going on about woman?...
No one is playing the girly card here, and nor do I need to man up thanks!
No one is disputing whether the job is difficult or not - I simply do not have enough experience/knowledge or the time for that matter (atm) to learn how to replace my boys radiator, as such, I’d rather hand my boy (it’s male, get used to it!) over to someone with the experience to do it!
No one has said that I do not trust my local garage, an Audi specialist for 30yrs+!

Furthermore, this website is a place to meet like-minded Audi enthusiasts who often share their experiences, good or bad, by way of building friendships and by way of helping each other; hence my asking ‘the guys’ for help/advice and the part number.
IMHO your response offers none of this and is yet another attempt at trying to make yourself heard on one of my threads just for the sake of it. Well huni, I’ve heard you and my response this time is this: unless you have something helpful and constructive to say, please kindly refrain from sticking your ore in to my business! – thank you!

So, first thing tomorrow morning...
I'll be phoning the garage, seeing when they can fit me in (hopefully not the usual 3wks!), will then take a nice steady drive over to them (with plenty of water bottles stocked up in the boot of course!), and well, they know what they're doing so I'll just let them get/fit a new rad in view of them being seemingly so readily available.

So instead of bleating on about it get it done then ....as you say they know what they are doing :wierdo:

Oh spelling mistake......ore is actually spelt oar at least make the effort please if you are going to have a go at me :nono:

Then are you not glad I refused your friend request!

I certainly wouldn't to be associated with someone that has no ideas about cars other than wanting to just chat and make long boring posts about a simple easy job that can be carried out in less than an hour.

Banter/thread drift!

I love it now where's the popcorn???

Amanda.
I would not classify swapping out a radiator as basic maintenance. Especially when you get to older cars like these. While the radiator itself is not all that complex, once you encounter seized or terminally rusted bolts, nuts, hose clips, perished bonded mounts, and the simple matter of exposing all the components you need to get to makes the job somewhat more significant than basic. Certainly it's not a half hour job (jeez, it takes 10minutes to make the first cup of essential take.). Add in a lack of working space and you are into some real complications.

Swapping spark plugs, wheels, bulbs, fuses, rotor arms, wipers, maybe brake discs/pads. Checking tyres, oil, water, coolant, and lights all working; Those could be practically regarded as basic, and relatively quick jobs.

I would tbh as it comes with the territory of having a rusty old shitbox , a ur rad ain't that hard , a crusty old escort is just as hard /easy tbh . Half a dozen bolt things and a few clips and voila water on my Christian louboutins

amanda 19-05-16 02:34 PM

Mark you have quoted me wrongly!.....I said an hour and yes I know it takes 10 mins to make a brew but in the time the kettle is boiling you can smother everything in wd40.....:finger: pass me the pop corn please
