No way are they crap - great cars but people have their own bag's - I do like em but the Nissan Micra interior and dashboard was shite. As a rally enthusiast, its second only to the quattro in my book and as an observer and contributor to this forum, I've just noticed your signature and am PMSL

Funny that.... i'll digress with a short story of pig headedness and my distaining anger everytime i see a Scooby engine bay...

First time i worked in a garage, my friend turned up on my first day at 9:15 with his STi saying it felt like it was missing under load... I took it for a drive and sure enough it was. Got back and my first job was remove and inspect spark plugs.... Anybody whose owned a scooby will know the cylinder heads lie parallel to the chassis rails, the rocker covers are literally 2" from the rails..... 25mins to remove 4 spark plugs!

We worked out it was down on cylinder 2 so obvious choice was to drop the engine and then inspect. 95mins is book time to completely remove the engine. Garage owner (who is high up in racing, owns an ex- DTM JCB sponsored Astra touring car and likes to see himself as that god figure everyone should obey) disagrees and says cylinder head off in situ.....

4hrs later and heads off.... Exhaust valve had shattered in half......

Moral being never work on a Scooby.... :wall:

On topic - I5 for me anyday out of those but i'd actually prefer a 10v Turbo with circa 450-500bhp, straight through with no silencers and RPM limit of 8000.

You cant beat the sound of the quattro all fired up it gives me goose pimples :Dbut on the other side I do agree with tommyboy I do like "proper" scooby and also wait for it a decent evo the sound is no where near that of a quattro but nice all the same good rally cars and good police interceptors too cause they've been fettled with:ihih::ihih: nothing like a good fettling under the hood :ihih:

Personally, I HATE the sound of an Impreza... and a V8 too for that matter!

Funny, I don't really mind the Scoobs noise, or a standard V8's for that matter. The flat plain crank V8 sounds like a 4 pot though, and is average at best. V6's really don't do much for me, but straight 6's can sound bloody lovely. 10's are excellente as Pete says... And 12's can either be lovely or dreadful... (I followed a V12 Lambo through Petworth a while ago and it sounded like it was eating itself... Horrid noise).

I wear a trilby and put a pipe in my mouth for Subaru drivers, as I shoot orf in the old estate ! Wot oh :ihih:
I must admit the old 2 does have a luverly grumble around 4500 rpm.
