Yea I have the two rads aswell. So wot do you get to a tank. Its realy nice to drive it but could do with a sixth gear.

This is more likely to be the multi function temp sender.

Had similar on my 90. Took me 3 attempts to get a sender that sits correctly.

Yep definately, a known failure on these 20V's with the symptoms you describe

Might be of interest?.... http://sites.internet.lu/folders/cus...S2.htm#COOLING

similar thing with gene - the temp needle takes a good while to get up to the middle of the gauge and then sometimes goes back down again before rising to settle at the correct position on the gauge!! :hmmm:
i've replaced the thermostat with a genuine audi part and the temp sensor was replaced too to no avail..

anyway, who cares...it still goes and sounds fabulous!!

Which temp sensor though, its the fat 4 pin one that causes the issues, changed mine twice in 10years.....

Yra still goes well was going to take it up to Scotland this year but not sure as fuel cost. And I only get 320 to a tank is that about right.

i was told that there is only one temp sensor - that's the one that screws into the
rear face of the cylinder head...

Craig, that's the one that tells the ECU what temp it is(2-pin)
The guage one is the brass one that has the rubber cover on it.......on the outlet from the head to top hose.
