I guess Tonks is about finished now with the Coupe S so he might be looking for a new project car :D

Not at all.... not touched anything for two weeks as I have done the 20v UR conversion and that has gone back to it's home. And I have built a Land Rover... So hopefully I will be able to jump back on to one of my cars next week :)

Whilst the sprogs were getting the Christmas decorations out of the loft, I thought I'd take the opportunity to sift through a few boxes of VW/Safer Motoring mags to find some pictures of this old girl.

One pic shows Peter Noad in his 80GT and Bob Wyse in the car in question.

There is an advert which Audi used when it fooled the MOT tester that the 10,000 MILES on the clock was genuine when in fact it was 100,000, but I couldn't put my hand on that one.

No not exactly but more magazine articles than any other Audi I can think of, it influenced a lot of aircooled journalists that this was the way forward, Peter Noad swapped his NSU TT for an 80GT based on his experience of this very car and a road test of a new 80GT Audi press car.

It was reading about this car in Safer Motoring in the 70s that convinced me to look for an Audi 80 (B1) in 1978 after a Triumph Herald and a couple of disastrous Viva HBs. I found a 1976 80LS. It was just so much better than those cars, especially after a Weber carb. I have never looked back. Couldn't afford to buy a 2 year old Audi now, but I wouldn't want one. Below are my first two Audis.
